Case Study - Decathlon


Decathlon's main mission is to make sport accessible to as many people as they can. They like to help, inspire and guide people through your sports experience and believe that being active and discovering new sports every day is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Decathlon makes sport accessible for the many but they needed a new UK head office that would inspire their employees to drive their business forward.

In early 2018 Lyreco invited Dams to visit the existing Decathlon site in London with a view to quoting for their move from porta-cabins (which they had been operating from since November 2014) to their newly built office around 500m away. On arriving to the initial meeting, it was established that Dams had supplied Decathlon’s existing office furniture around 3 years earlier through another dealer.

Decathlon were very happy with their existing Adapt bench desks, Fliptop meeting tables and Altino chairs, and they were looking for a supplier that could offer the manpower to move this furniture to their new site, in addition to bringing in additional desks, tables and chairs for the new site, and fit out the new breakout and dining area for their employees.

After a visit to Dams head office in Merseyside, Decathlon were very impressed with the Dams set up and the products that we could provide. Decathlon were assured that Dams would supply high-quality pieces in the appropriate style to perfectly suit the fitout, and within a lead time that would please the client, so Dams were tasked with supplying the furniture solutions for the new Decathlon head office in South East London.

Sleek and stylish with clean cut lines and balanced proportions, the Adapt benching solution is a real stand out in the modern office environment. Decathlon also wanted a mesh back office chair for their employees and the Gemini chair is the perfect chair for those who spend hours sitting at the computer, with adjustable arms and lumbar support.

The Alban high-back sofa was an ideal fit for Decathlon’s new breakout area, offering a quiet or private place for employees to sit and relax, or for teams to meet in seclusion, while at the same time reflecting the latest in contemporary design. The Otto table and bench system was a creative, practical solution for Decathlon’s dining area, offers a modern twist to the industrial look and providing a creative space where Decathlon’s employees can gather and meet for a coffee away from the hustle and bustle of the office.

Dams project management team attended the site 4 weeks before the delivery and installation date to go through the finer details and make sure Dams were well aware what site conditions would be on arrival. Dams project team worked hand-in-hand with Decathlon’s management to schedule delivery and installation aligned to their just-in-time requirements. The delivery and installation took place over 2 days and Decathlon’s employees moved into their new head office the following day.
