Biomass
boiler
Almost 25% of energy consumption from
renewable and waste sources is from biomass
We operate a Biomass boiler to incinerate waste timber
and wood dust. This energy recovery solution means Dams
can heat our 200,000 sq. ft. factory and offices and are us-
ing our waste to reduce demand for oil and gas. As a result
of these boilers Dams are part of the of the RHI
(Renewable Heat Incentive) Scheme.

We’re committed to minimising waste, where it cannot
be minismised we re-use or recycle as much waste as
possible. Throughout our operating site, there are recycling
points for paper/cardboard, metal, wood, plastics, and this
initiative has more than doubled the volume of recycled
waste sorted. Last year we recycled a massive 63.66
tonnes of cardboard, 12.17 tonnes of plastics, 1,895.98
tonnes of wood and 78.02 tonnes of metal - all of which are
improvements on the previous year.
