As an office furniture manufacturer, Dams International Ltd recognises that our operations have an effect on the local, national and global environment. As a consequence of this, the company is committed to achieving continual improvement in environmental performance and the prevention of pollution.

As a growing business, we recognize that the pursuit of economic growth and a healthy environment must be closely linked, and that ecological protection and sustainable development are everyone’s responsibility.

Dams is committed to conducting its operations in compliance with all existing environmental legislation and applicable industry environmental standards.

The Managing Director is responsible to the Board for the company’s overall performance and implementation of this policy through the Environmental Management System.  The Health and Safety Manager has day-to-day responsibility for the implementation of the policy and reports directly to the Managing Director in this regard.

The company has established mechanisms to identify and quantify the significance of the company’s environmental impacts.  Similarly, mechanisms have been established to identify and subsequently review environmental objectives and targets within an Environmental Improvement Programme.

Progress on the Environmental Improvement Programme and proposed alterations will be reported to the Board on an annual basis for approval.

This policy will be communicated to staff through the intranet and company briefings, and staff will receive the training necessary to fulfill their role within the Environmental Management System.

This policy statement will be made available to the public via the Dams website and the Board will review the policy and Environmental Management System on an annual basis.

Dams use ABS edging around our desks as opposed to Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC), ABS is recyclable, reusable, non-toxic & non-carcinogenic.

PVC cannot be effectively recycled due to the many different toxic additives used to soften or stabilize.

Most consumers do not know that a 3 in the recycle symbol indicates that the plastic is made of PVC, and therefore recycle those products, inadvertently rendering thousands of potentially recycled containers useless. In fact just one PVC bottle can contaminate a recycling load of 100,000 PET bottles.
