Foreword

Today’s global economy is principally based on the exploitation of the world’s non-renewable natural resources as both sources of energy and raw materials for manufacture. The exploitation of these resources is in many cases gathering pace, from the deforestation of the world’s jungles & forests to the extraction of coal and oil from the Earth’s crust, all these actions exploit finite natural resources. Furthermore, the processing and use of these raw materials often has a detrimental effect upon both urban and natural habitats and the atmosphere.

At some point in the future we will all have to move to a sustainable global economy built on using renewable energy sources and better managed natural resources. With this in mind Dams are playing their part in the move towards a sustainable economy.

Download Policy Statement

Dams use ABS edging around our desks as opposed to Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC), ABS is recyclable, reusable, non-toxic & non-carcinogenic.

PVC cannot be effectively recycled due to the many different toxic additives used to soften or stabilize.

Most consumers do not know that a 3 in the recycle symbol indicates that the plastic is made of PVC, and therefore recycle those products, inadvertently rendering thousands of potentially recycled containers useless. In fact just one PVC bottle can contaminate a recycling load of 100,000 PET bottles.
